Mr Butler and his rhythm section all perform to a very high standard and made our visit worth while by extending nearly every song. I particularly enjoyed watching the drummer who often abandoned a stick in order to play a conga with one hand which I believe to be a talent in itself.

Plenty of Aussie’s in the crowd, which is always a good thing although they did talk an awful lot and there was a support act apparently, but we missed that. All-in-all a good gig which has inspired me to purchase some earlier JBT material.

DJ Format gig

James, Stu and myself attended the Mean Fiddler last night to see DJ Format with support from Little Barrie, a 3 piece 70s funk style summer jam type outfit who were rather good. The drummer has a surprisingly high singing voice for his chunky hairy appearance, but this is not to say it was bad. … Continue reading “DJ Format gig”

The harmonies & rhythm worked very well over the top of the jingley jangly guitar. Shame we missed the solo on Free Salute due to the second broken string of the night.

Slap n’ tickle

If you haven’t seen Secretary, then you should (as long as you’re over 18 that is). James Spader actually works well as the sleazy, weird boss. In the meantime, why not relieve yourself on the Secretary spank me toy? It’s one of the better interactive elements from a movie Web site type thing. Requires sound, … Continue reading “Slap n’ tickle”

Kept me entertained for about 14 seconds anyway.

Mum’s the word

Alton Towers have recently launched a new ride in their theme park. Usually a good thing, as I am a fan of theme park rides but this time they’ve called it Rita. Now ‘Rita’ happens to be my mothers name & this is putting me off somewhat. Besides, I don’t think naming a ride ‘Rita’ … Continue reading “Mum’s the word”

Alton Towers have recently launched a new ride in their theme park. Usually a good thing, as I am a fan of theme park rides but this time they’ve called it Rita. Now ‘Rita’ happens to be my mothers name & this is putting me off somewhat. Besides, I don’t think naming a ride ‘Rita’ does it any favours. It’s a rubbish name. OK, they added Queen of Speed on the end but still, what were they thinking? “OK people, we’ve got Nemesis, The Black Hole, Oblivion, but I think we needs something with a little more… afternoon tea”. What’s next Margeret – Zimmer Frame Zoomer?

The wonderful Roller Coaster DataBase has all the stats for us. I love this site, you can find some pretty scary rides on there.

Our Holiday
Our Holiday

I’ve finally got round to scanning my holiday snaps from January this year. I’ve somehow never managed to scan more than 3 pictures from my previous trip around kiwi-land, which is a big shame. However, after adding these & looking back over my holiday I’ve become inspired – it’s a beautiful part of the world & these images need to be seen.

Oh & sorry to Andrew & Katie… I know it looks like I stole your idea, but it was Nic that wrote that in the sand.
