It’s now thinner & lighter & the battery life is longer (12hrs of AAV playback). You can recognise the newer new iPod by the missing 4 buttons above the wheel. This iPod has a similar wheel to the iPod Mini. So don’t be fooled into buying the new iPod on Amazon because it isn’t the new one, it’s now even newer than that.

It would all be clearer if Apple could learn to describe their products with a simple version or generation number rather than confusing everybody with the word “new”.

So I’m glad I’ve waited, but now I feel like I can’t wait anymore. It looks like the wonderful iTrip still works with the new iPod (although illegal in the UK).

Still the only problem for me that remains is the replacement of dead batteries. Hidden away on the Apple site they stated a replacement battery costs £86, but that does include “workmanship”… oh what a relief!
